ABOUT ABOUT

THEATRE BY DEVELOPMENT is proud to present its inaugural 2024 season, kicking off with VERONICA written by Sophia Snyder and directed by Brennah Leone.

Veronica failed out of school a year ago and, as her old friend discovers, has spent the past year creating her own makeshift lab: experimenting on urban wildlife, and making miraculous breakthroughs. Far from satisfied, Veronica wants more. She enlists her friend as an assistant and together they continue her secret research around healing, pain, and life itself.

As they work, they grow even closer to each other. At the same time, Veronica grows less and less scrupulous about moral boundaries… When the bubble of technicolor mad science pops and the violence kicks in, reality starts to taint the whimsy. Beating a man to death with a wrench is sort of a mood-killer. ”

VERONICA is a new, one-act dark comedy that will be presented at SKINNERS STUDIO in the PLAYS & PLAYERS THEATER in Philadelphia, PA from MAY 9-12, 2024. Tickets are "pay what you can" with a suggested $10 minimum.

THEATER BY DEVELOPMENT was founded by Monti Cerabino and Andrew Miqueli. Monti and Andrew met in their undergrad theater program where they consistently lent hands in creating new work. The first piece this director-writer duo collaborated on was a satirical dark comedy based on the Manson Family Cult for a new play festival in 2019. The first professional piece this director-writer duo collaborated on was a satirical dark comedy based on the kidnapping of Patty Hearst for a Philadelphia play festival in 2022. With the insatiable hunger to create and collaborate, it only felt a natural progression to provide a platform for other artists, produce more work, and officialize our partnership. TBD believes that in championing new voices and work, we will also be able to reward new audience members with new experiences.
